Kent: it was lovely. Every moment of it.

From the day when I turned up in September 2017 until the final summer evening in June 2020, my time studying for a BA in architecture at the University of Kent was filled with brilliant people and wonderful experiences.
Most of these brilliant people I last saw in passing in the architecture studio in March 2020. Too many goodbyes happened unknowingly then, before everything changed. Last Tuesday we finally met again, celebrated together and took part in our graduation ceremony under the newly restored, beautiful rib vaulting of Canterbury Cathedral that had been hidden away behind scaffolding since before I first started studying architecture here.

Trump took office the year we started; Our final design presentations were held on Teams and our graduation was delayed by almost two years because of a pandemic that hit four months before we finished.

Tuesday was fantastic. I don’t really have the words to describe how it’s all been, but the day helped to finally wrap up the Canterbury chapter of my story that has changed and affected me in so many ways. Thank you to everyone who’s been a part of it ❤️📐🔥
